We asked one of our favourite Cornish foodie bloggers ‘Katie Eats Cornwall‘ to come up with a new recipe using our Cornish Bangers. We first met Katie at the Padstow Christmas festival last year where she stocked up on our range of different sausages and she’s been a fan and keen supporter of ours ever since. We were delighted when she said yes and we’re extremely happy with the results, here’s the recipe so you can have a go for yourself.     For 2-3 people 6 Cornish bangers 2 cloves of garlic finely chopped 3 small carrots diced 2 sticks of celery diced 1 leek diced 100g smoked bacon lardons 1 can of lentils drained 200ml chicken stock A handful of chopped parsley Start by frying the sausages in a little oil till brown and put to one side. Do the same with the bacon lardons and set aside with the sausages. Then in the same pan fry the garlic, leeks, carrots and celery for 10 mins until softened. Add in the cooked bacon lardons, drained lentils and chicken stock. Simmer gently for 5 minutes. Return the sausages to the bacon and lentil mix along with some of the chopped parsley and cook for a further 10 minutes. Since 2013, The Red Lion pub in Barnes, London have been holding a competition to celebrate this much overlooked buffet item and give it the attention it deserves in the ‘Great Sausage Roll Off’. It is a live cooking event where around 20 professional chefs take their turns to create, roll and bake their own take on the Sausage Roll. It’s no mean feat, the cooking goes on in heats and lasts up to four hours! This year’s offering was held on 30th January and was once again compered by Beer & Food writer Melissa Cole. The returning sponsors were Rational UK, I.O Shen Knives, Netherton Foundry, Mrs R’ganics and Fuller’s. There was a stunning line up of chefs from up & down the country, along with top judges; Simon Rimmer from Sunday Brunch, Andrew Clarke from Brunswick House, Masterchef winner Jane Devonshire & Holburn Dining Room Exec Chef Calum Franklin We are extremely excited to announce that this year’s winner was Padstow chef Adrian Oliver with a Cornish Pork, Bacon & Sage creation, using our very own Kernow Sausage Co sausage meat!        It’s been a bit of a whirlwind for Adrian & Gav since he won the competition, with a guest appearance on Sunday Brunch and local TV and Radio appearances too. Needless to say, we are very proud of them both and this latest accolade....
