Newquay Fish Festival 2013 There’s something fishy going on at Newquay harbour this month! The three day annual event combines the town’s vibrant culture and fishing tradition, showcasing some of the finest food available from local producers. With entertainment, competitions and cookery demonstrations from top chefs, the day promises to be one to remember. The Hungry Sailors visit Barwick Farm Sailing around Britain in search of the best local food Dick and James Strawbridge paid the Kernow Sausage team a visit to find out more about our famous bangers earlier in the year. As part of the Cornish leg of their culinary tour The Hungry Sailors certainly get stuck in down at Barwick farm. Watch them in action on ITV at 2pm on Thursday 8th August. At the start of 2013 the cost of British pork was 16% higher than it was in 2011 as prices continue to rise. Retail prices for pork were nearly 9% higher over the last 12-month period, recording a larger increase than beef, lamb or poultry. With volume purchases of pork down 4% compared to last year many farmers and small producers are under increasing pressure to deliver quality and value for money.   Marie Curie event at Trewithen Gardens Volunteers at Marie Curie Cancer Care are busy making preparations for a special fundraiser at Trewithen Gardenson Sunday 11th August. Having cooked up a storm at The Seafood Restaurant we look forward to seeing him in action.   Welcome Samantha! This month we have welcomed a brand new member to the Kernow Sausage family. Samantha Mauger will now be taking the reigns as our marketing assistant. Growing up in the city of Leicester, she spent her childhood enjoying many happy holidays to the south coast, collecting shells and chasing her sister with seaweed. After graduating from Loughborough University with a first class degree she officially migrated to Cornwall last year. Having spent the winter tearing up the slopes in the ski resort of Meribel, she has returned to Cornwall to plant her roots. Her love of the relaxed Kernow lifestyle drew her to the county where she now enjoys growing her own herb garden and catching a wave on Fistral Beach.
