Amongst the finest of Cornwall’s country house hotels, Merchants Manor is a glittering testament to the idea that heritage and progression can exist harmoniously together. Striving to deliver the perfect stay, this gem with stunning views across Falmouth Bay focuses on hospitality and exquisite service. Completed in 1913 in the Queen Anne style, Merchants Manor has been elegantly restored to a truly gracious country house.
Earlier this month the owners of Merchants Manor celebrated the anniversary of their first year with the hotel wish a splendid gala dinner evening. The diamonds and pearls themed event was a roaring success and also raised more than £800 for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Having been treated to champagne and signature cocktails, guests enjoyed a gourmet four-course menu carefully chosen and prepared by head chef Dale McIntosh. Born in Kent but now well established on the Cornish food scene, Dale has developed a healthy interest in all aspects of food, produce and cooking.
Head Chef Dale McIntosh likes to form strong relationships with his suppliers and has been a dear friend to The Kernow Sausage Company for many years now.
‘My job as a chef in Cornwall is made so much easier with the produce that I source, amongst the best is the Kernow Sausage Company who supply my bangers for breakfast. Guests are treated to the best we can deliver and the one thing they always remember is their last meal, breakfast…. The Trelawney Traditional takes some beating!’
His artistic flair brings classic Cornish ingredients into the new age of the gourmet menu. Be warned, his food really does taste as good as it looks! With devilishly delicious flavours and a real passion for excellence, the selection of mouth-watering dishes on offer at Merchants Manor are not to be missed.
